Yo Gabba Gabba!
This is hilarious.
My kids have become pretty big fans of the new Nick show Yo Gabba Gabba!, and, being the good parents that we are, my wife and I have made sure to watch it with them. The show grows on you, with it's trippy characters, catchy tunes, and hipster guest stars (such as Elijah Wood, Tony Hawk, the Sweater Lady, Biz Markie, etc.). But some of the funniest parts of the show to us adults--and also most loved by my daughters--are the kid dance segments. These happen between the character bits, and they involve a toddler dancing feverishly while introducing him/herself and admitting, "I love to dance!"
The girls like these segments because they somehow make instant friends with the kids on the screen. Maddie will often shout out, "There's Madison!" or "Carter's my favorite!" But the reason these segments are so much fun for my wife and me is that the kids are such funny dancers.
And Nathaniel, below, has been our favorite one so far. It's nice to see him getting his fifteen minutes of fame. He deserves it for how much he had us laughing when we first saw him.
If you're new to Yo Gabba Gabba!, by the way, I recommend you start your viewing with one of our favorite songs, "Party in My Tummy." Watch it, then see how long it stays in your head. You'll be hearing it for days. Oh, and be sure to check out the production blog for the show, for even more info on special guests.
I predict Yo Gabba Gabba! will quickly become one of the hottest kids' shows, overtaking The Wiggles, Dora, Barney, etc. The fact that they're making an effort to appeal to adults--why else would they have "drawing time with Mark (Mothersbaugh, from DEVO)--gives them a leg up on the others. When your store is sold out of Foofa action figures, don't say I didn't warn you.
