I’m watching The Day the Earth Stood Still right now and eating Chef Boyardee canned Macaroni and Cheese.  Both are things I expected to be bad.   And so far, I’ve yet to be proven totally wrong on either account.  The Day the Earth Stood Still is moving at a snail’s pace, and Keanu’s failing at portraying an emotionless alien, which is bizarre, since that’s usually what I accuse him of being in every other film.  There’s nothing I outright hate about the film at this point, but I’m more than halfway through, and I haven’t found anything that I especially like about it.  It’s just a forgettable sequence of illogical events.  Not the worst film I’ve ever seen, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know.cb_macandcheese

The canned mac and cheese is much the same.  It isn’t terrible–the noodles are a little mushy and the whole thing is oversalted, but I’ve had worse.  My biggest problem is wondering why they felt the need to can it.  I guess because the Chef puts every other pasta into a can.  But there really wasn’t a need to can something that’s already cheaper, better tasting, has a longer shelf life and is and almost as easy to make when bought in a box.  Anyway, I’ll finish the can, but won’t buy it again.  Like this film, it’s failing to impress, and I’m just not sure why someone bothered to make it…or why I thought it was a good idea to consume it.

I guess that’s what boredom gets you–a belly–and brain–full of tasteless starch.
